Hey, recently I've bought a new MacBook Pro 13, 2017 model. Downloaded DriveDx app to see my ssd details, and it seems my disk already have 1TB or data written...I mean how come? no way I have written that much of data in 3 days basically.

Or maybe the app is not reading properly and is misleading ?

Mine had almost 9 TB written out of the box. I have a 1TB Drive. I imagine they do this for testing? If you watch the youtube videos on how they make SSDs you'll see they test EVERY drive and every cell to make sure it is working before it goes out for sale. This is where I think that usage comes from.

How big is your SSD? A 240GB SSD can easily handle many many many tarabytes of usage before getting anywhere near failure - some even last petabytes. I've spent a lot of time reading those tests where they intentionally try to kill disk drives.

I wouldn't worry about it. I did the math on mine and my SSD (1TB) will last many lifetimes over for me with my current usage. I'm currently at 10TB of usage after 9.7 months of ownership.

I use DriveDx too. :)

128GB as I am not a heavy user, and 90Gigs is a plenty storage for me. it's my 1st MacBook.
Before i only had PC with SSD and Mini, but never had a brand new SSD with over a TB data written on it. :)

anyhow I'll keep an eye on this :)

Perfect. My 128GB MacBook Air was heavily used for 3+ years. Never lost a % in life. Sadly, I never recorded how many TB of usage it had when I sold it back to Apple. :( But I definitely wouldn't worry about it. If all you're using is 90GB you'll be fine.
