Hey guys, do you think the new Macbook with the X3100 is about as fast as the original MBP with the Core Duo and ATI 1600?

I heard the X3100 is much nicer and has some hardware features. It wouldn't doing much gaming but I'd like to be able to run WoW if I could.

Also, will Leopard run WC3 and Starcraft?

I'm really disappointed with the x3100 drivers right now. I had a macbook I bought 2 weeks ago that I took back in order to upgrade to this one. The performance so far is inferior to the 950 I had. Wow runs at best the same, though it seems a bit worse. I actually notice some screen tearing when using Spaces. They need to upgrade these drivers asap. I take solace in the fact that they are sure to get better, but for right now I'm quite disappointed.

Does the X3100 make a huge improvement in running Leopard? I'm going to be buying a macbook, but don't know if I ought to hold off and save some more for the new one.

I was looking at buying a used 1.83 C2D for cheap, then buying Leopard and some ram..but if I go for a new one, I get leopard, 1gb standard, and a better video card (and a 1 yr warranty)

I just didn't know if the X3100 was worth saving for if I use iWork, Office, and iTunes.

Right now, I'd say that the x3100 runs worse on leopard with the current drivers. At least in my experience it does. But, that is sure to change as time goes on, so I'd say that you are getting a lot more bang for your buck in buying the new one. x3100 will be much more future proof than the 950 when apple updates the graphical effects of the OS beyond leopard.

I never played WoW but to test the card I loaded Win XP on bootcamp and installed Star Wars Galaxies.
So far I am plesantly surprised as on 1280/800 this game gives me stable 17-22 frames which is great for this game.
I do get frames drop to 5-7 in crowded places but I can easly live with that.
there is no way to test it under OS X as SWG is available for Windows only.

I'm very happy to be honest :)
