My Macbook came today (2Mhz C2D) and the verizon dsl kit.

This is my first new computer in over 10 years (7600 w/G3-500 & 8600)
Plus I've been on dial-up all that time too. (Part of me is luddite...what can I say)
Even though I got the cheapy dsl, its freakin fast. Seems a lot faster than the librarys connection, whatever that is. wooo hoooo.
So the macbook... I notice the factory seal on the box was cut and a new piece of tape was used. It po'd me because I'm anal with gear. So I called the dealer and she says the boxes are getting opened at the warehouse because they needed to replace the old iLife cd's with the new iLife 08 disks. OK, made sense.
Then I turn the computer on and the setup assistant comes up and gets to the network part and its set for wireless and it does a scan. So several names show up....vinny, lexi, janine... So now I'm pissed again because I'm again thinking some one else had this computer. So I call the dealer and they give me tech support and the guy tells me that the computer is recieving other peoples wireless connections (I live in a condo complex) DOH!!
(I really don't no anything about all this stuff)
Knock on wood, the fit and finish on this thing seems pretty good and so far I detect no dead pixels. One thing I am curious about is that there are two small screws on each side of the chassis towards the front. I hope they aren't supposed to be holding the plastic to the computer because the plastic has a very very slight bow so you can push it closer in. They must be attached to something else.
The palm edges are a bit sharp as everyone says. I'm not a typist and I find I keep hitting the caps lock by accident, but I'll get used to it. Very bright screen....combo drive sounds a bit like a tiny window fan....
loud headphone signal. I likey.
So far, after an hour or so, I'm very jazzed about this.
