New Macbook - how to make new HD EXACTLY like old

So, have a new Macbook and need to move everything from my old one including Bootcamp Partitions, Parallels partitions, etc before I erase it and sell it.

What is the best way to do this? Will Carbon Copy Cloner do that? Enable me to use my windows partitions as well as Mac stuff as I don't want to have to reinstall windows, . ..

Migration Assistant might help to a degree (with Target Disk Mode, of course), however I doubt either that, or Carbon Copy Cloner will be able to help with your Windows partition.

A linux boot disc which supports EFI and a external hard drive?

Boot the disc, use dd to clone the drives to the external drive. Boot new laptop with boot disc, connect external drive and restore partitions.

dd clones everything of your drive so shouldn't be a problem. I'm not a mac user (yet, holding out for the next mac book pro while i save) i just get given my sisters mac book when she brakes it to fix. dd should work, be sure to get a linux boot disc which supports efi though, i heard they are out there.

Don't think it's that simple

I tried using carbon copy cloner when moving from my Core Duo MBP to my Core2Duo MBP. The cloned image wouldn't boot - it would get part of the way through and kernel panic.

The problem is that the version of MacOS that sits on you old machine's hard drive isn't "generic". During the installation process, drivers and kernel modules particular to your hardware configuration were installed. Moving this image to another Mac may work, but even if it does, you're likely not to get the benefit of the driver(s) most optimized for your hardware.

Your best bet is to do a clean install (clean installs are good for the soul anyway) and use the migration assistant.

Installing Mac OS X and migrate will not help you with your other partitions. I suggest you go for the Linux Live-CD option and use dd. If you experience performance issues, you can still reinstall Max OS X (I think that will leave your other partitions as they are, won't it?).

I dont see how to migrate the windows partition...you could stick the HDs into a linux box and use that i suppose.
