I've just ordered a Macbook from the local drugstore. The thing is, my desktop PC is a Dell running Windows XP, and of course my Nano configured itself to run under Windows.

Can I simply connect my Nano to the Macbook, when it arrives - or am I going to have to re-format the Nano somehow?

First off, a drugstore? That must be one nice drugstore. :D

Sorry about that.
Yeah, you'll have to reformat it. Just burn all of your music on the Dell to a CD or a DVD, then transfer it over to your shiny new Mac.
Have fun!

Edit: Just kidding. Listen to them.

No, you won't have to reformat it. In fact I'd recommend you don't.

My iPod worked just fine with my mini right away, which is great because I can use it to transfer files all over the shop. If you do a factory reset with the ipod firmware updater software on the mac, however, it'll wipe the drive and format it with the HFS file system, which you don't want. I don't think it gives you an option.

Off Topic: London Drugs is a drugstore in Canada that sells Mac's, that might be it?

On Topic: Yes it should work, but if you want to keep updating it on the Dell, don't reformat it.. OS X can read OS X and Windows formatted drives, but Windows can only read Windows formatted drives.

Man, this is really weird. It's about the 3rd thread today I've read about London Drugs and how cool it is to by Macs there. I was a little annoyed when moving from Van out here that there were no LDs in Quebec, as the store rocks. You can get everything there, and not too expensive, great for students. Well I guess I won't have to wait too long to experience that again as I'm heading back (just recently found out, and I thought to myself well at least there'll be London Drug stores and 7/11s) and now all these threads. Weird.

Yes, when I said I ordered the Macbook at the drugstore, I did mean London Drugs.

The computer department at London Drugs is actually quite good - the staff are very knowledgable, and there's always an abundance of computer products on display. It's rare that London Drugs doesn't have exactly what I'm looking for. They've even got a great selection of games. And their return policy is fantastic - no questions asked!

And then when you've finished buying your computer equipment you can pick up some condoms, some shaving cream, some cough medicine.

It's great.
