New MacBook, Needs a Nice Shoulderbag

I bought a MacBook two days ago, and i need to buy a Shoulder bag for it. I'm going to be going from class to class, it's gonna need room for some note books, ipod, and maybe a cellphone.

i was looking at the mac guide, but it didn't help all that much. i always like person opinion over product description.

I'd take a look at the Brenthaven Fusion messenger bag, or one of their other shoulder bags. I'd trust Brenthaven any day with my laptops. The protection is great, and they look good too. I'd also look at some cases from Booq. They're another of my favorite bag/case companies.

If you don't find anything between those two companies, you could try getting a small sleeve for the MacBook, and just buying any shoulder bag. I've currently got the Booq Vyper XS2 for my MacBook, which is great and fits like a glove, and a North Face backpack with a laptop sleeve.

I love my Timbuk2 messenger, and I haul my laptop all over campus all the time. Love love love it. I have another one that I've had since about 1997 and it's still going strong. I'm looking at getting another one since I like this one so much.

The material they use for the bags feel rather unwieldy, although I gotta admit it is strong stuff. Besides do they even have padding for them?

I still prefer Crumplers over Timbuk2

Knomo makes some gorgeous bags! Although I noted that there's only one 12"-er in their whole line-up (Vichy), and I didn't see anything oriented at a notebook in the MacBook's size range... not to mention the prices...wow!

I kind of want something more professional than my backpack, as well as more stylish, and I don't really even need a notebook sleeve, as long as the bag is padded, since I can use my Tucano inside it. But I'm not sure everything that I put in my backpack now will fit in, so I have to figure out how to pare down.

Yes. The bag I have is not the classic messenger, but instead the Commute. It has a padded laptop compartment that's corduroy lined, and the back is padded as well. It's smaller than the classic messenger and has a little more structure to it. It's a perfect college bag.

I am using a Tumi / Incase Sleeve combo but it was about $100 for both. ($69 + $29). But the best thing to do is get a sleeve and any bag you want it will be safe.

I did notice a few good rebate deals..

Targus CityGear Miami Messenger Bag (TCG200CCS)
$20 after rebate on circuit city but might be to big. Also they have a backpack on compusa for $10!!! after rebate. but that might of expired. might be $20 now.

@abstract: while i love those bags you showed, i'd much rather point my girlfriend to those than me. hah!


if there are any gripes against stm, please, clue me in. i've never had a notebook bag before.

also, are there any other brands [besides crumpler: only cuz they're expensive] that make similiar bags. i'm on a never ending quest to find the items that are the most quality for the least dollar.
