New macbook PRO LED RAM!

Quick question please!

Would I be able to take the original ram out of the MBP (2x1gb) and use it on a DELL m1210? Or this is mac only ram?

(Im asking because I bought other 4gb ram for the MBP at OWC)

as long as both laptops take the same RAM. don't mistake DDR for DDR2 or you won't be happy. Not familiar with the Dell m1210 myself.

Cool.. Ill see if anybody else knows. BTW off-topic, if I bought the MBP from amazon.com and it turns to have a problem can I go directly to an Apple Store and replace it? (everything is in florida, usa)

nope. you can have it repaired under warranty but that's about it.

The MacBook Pro uses industry-standard DDR2 SO-DIMMs, and ships with 667 MHz modules.

I know that Dell often uses the same model number for multiple generations of machine, including ones that use completely incompatible RAM. You would have to check with the Dell manual for your specific computer to be sure what it takes. However, the *CURRENT* m1210 does use the same memory as the MacBook Pro, so the memory should work just fine in it.

As for repair/replacement... Apple does not guarantee 'replacement' at all under their warranty. They only thing their warranty covers is 'repair'. It is completely up to Apple if they decide to replace. That said, you can take it to ANY "Apple Authorized Service Center" for warranty work. Yes, all Apple Retail Stores are Apple Authorized Service Centers; as are many third-party retailers.

Amazon's return policy states that you may return it if it is new and unopened within 30 days for a full refund, if opened, you can return it within 30 days with a 15% 'restocking' fee. After 30 days, you're solely at the mercy of Apple's warranty, above.

1. Yes it will work just fine, the macbooks, older (pre-SR) macbook pros and that dell all share a type of ram.

2. Yes, depending on the problem. If it is a problem that wasn't caused by something you did, yes. If you had an accident with it, no.

they will not replace it. apple stores will only replace if you bought it from an apple store or the online store.

Apple does not replace through their warranty. They repair. I discovered this when I bought my 12" PowerBook G4 back in 2003. The optical drive was dead on arrival, yet I couldn't just trade for a replacement, I had to send it in for repair.
