When connected to a new 2021 MacBook Pro, 14", Monterey, the display defaults to 4096 x 2304. Anyone else seeing similar? Hoping it's user error.

For whatever reason the old MacBook would display at the higher resolution with the existing cable but the new hardware was experiencing a downgrade of throughput.
