New MacBook Pro / Monterey / LG UltraFine 5K / Resolution

When connected to my 2016 MacBook Pro/BigSur, the display defaults to 5120 x 2880.

When connected to a new 2021 MacBook Pro, 14", Monterey, the display defaults to 4096 x 2304.

Anyone else seeing similar? Hoping it's user error.

Stunningly the solution was the cable. For whatever reason the old MacBook would display at the higher resolution with the existing cable but the new hardware was experiencing a downgrade of throughput. Thanks to those who posted to this thread:

a reminder that these monitors ship with two cables that look very similar; be sure your using the thunderbolt version..
