Hi all, I got a new Macbook Pro, haven't even opened it yet. I am wondering how I should set it up. I am planning on reinstalling the OS without all the "other languages support".

I am wondering what else I should do. Any tips or software suggestions? Thanks for all advise...

Also, I am assuming that ilife 06 CD's are in the box for reinstall?

Another question?

I have to install windows on this for work. How much storage should I alot for the windows partition?

Thanks

Don't forget to calibrate it. And I installed a bunch of stuff but I'm not sure you want the same stuff. Lots of open source stuff is immediately available like Gimp, VLC, firefox, thunderbird, etc... Depends a lot on your taste I guess.

How much space will you need for your work? I've allocated 13 gigs to windows but that's because I use it for games, so if you just have small files (I'm assuming text etc) I'd say less than 10 gigs, maybe even the minimum.

first thing first. change the color of your desktop to a solid color...say blue. then check for uneven illumination affecting, my guess, the majority of MBP's (yes majority since most people don't notice because their profession does not depend on it). However, from time to time there really is a good screen on a MBP here and there. If it's uneven, and you care about it, send it in and sit back and wait till Microsoft fixes the problem. Ooops. I mean Apple. Wait until Apple fixes the problem.

No i am not a troll. I went through two laptops till i had enough and sent it in for a full refund. I'm sure apple is aware and i hope they will correct the problem soon. But there is no awareness in the media so they may not correct the problem anytime soon. So I'll probably be getting an iMac. A desktop not being by first choice purchase at this time. either way, i give them till the end of January to fix or at least make a statement of awareness of the problem and that they are fixing it.

Sorry for my rant. But it's a message board and these things happen
