New Macbook Pro Owner - Need help with Music Production Setup!

Hi guys,

Apologies if this has been asked before or there is something similar!

However, I wonder if I could grab some help? I'm a first time Macbook Pro owner, and slowly integrating it into my home music studio.

I'm looking to purchase some additional hard drive space for all of my samples to use with Ableton.

Does anyone recommend any decent Thunderbolt Harddrives that don't break the bank? I also need some additional USB ports, so I wondered what other people have done?

I cannot recommend a specific product but what I can say is that if you want to record using microphones you need to make sure your setup is absolutely silent. Hence no spinning drives but rather SSD drives. Now if you just mix samples a standard HDD will do but then you for sure want that it is fast so better a 7200rpm drive.

I use the Akai EIE Soundcard, It has a build in USB hub ( 4 ports )

I use a LaCie 1TB external HD - I don't have a thunderbolt model, but they do have one for $170 on Newegg. Not sure if that's breaking the bank territory or not. The 2TB model is only $230, so not bad at all. And there are definitely lots of USB hubs you could go for. Newegg will have them too!
