Hello,
I just got a new MBP & I also have an iPhone 3G, I have transfered my old iTunes folders over to my new MBP... When plugging in the iPhone, my MBP did recognize the iPhone as never been synced to it before. I backed up the iPhone and also transferred all purchases from iPhone to iTunes.

My concern is that the first time that I sync the iPhone to iTunes all current data within App's will be lost. i.e. High Score games, content in Tap Forms, all progress in or with any App.

How can I start to sync my iPhone with this new computer. Something else to keep in mind is that my old iBook G4 is no longer with us (faulty logic board)

Authorize your computer with your Apple id and then you should be good. The only data you can lose is some music files if they are not on the MBP.

I thought you said it was not recognizing the iPhone?

Honestly just Control click on your phone in iTUnes and select backup. This will back up all of your application data.

Sorry, I have edited my 1st thread... It did reconigize it. I have backed it up... but when I go to Applications (under that device) it said that all Apps and data would be replaced with the applications on the computer...

I just really do not want to loose that data within my Apps

How do I authorize my computer with my apple id? I'm having the same issues with my new mbp. I would love to add a bunch of stuff to my computer with my iphone, actually. If I could get my address book on my new comuter, that would be amazing.

My old powerbook is working fine (if clunky).

try to play a purchased itunes song, and It'll prompt you to authorize that computer. also, as long as you're not restoring the phone, just re-syncing it with all your same songs, it should save your info, but I"m not sure since I havn't tried that and I'm still new to iphone.
