Hi all,

I'm setting up a new Macbook after importing from my previous computer, via Migration Assistant. Strangely, a few of my settings don't seem to have been transferred, like my Safari extensions.

Anyway, after reinstalling some extensions, I realize that Safari keeps resetting every time I quit it. The extensions are still installed, but the Favorites bar is hidden, I get the "Welcome" tab, etc. What's going on, and how do I get it to stop?

Interesting. Thanks. Yes, I did have to set up a new account first, because my new Macbook was not running on Sierra, and the import wasn't compatible until I upgraded.

When I ran Migration Assistant, I believe I was able to overwrite my user, so I may not be having the exact problem described in your link.

I was able to resolve the Safari problem by deleting the .plist preferences file. I haven't noticed other major issues -- it seemed that the user was logging in in some sort of recovery mode (with the progress bar) a few times, but that may have gone away.

If I use the computer for a few days and everything seems intact, I'm probably good to go, right?

Side note: I opted to do Migration Assistant over Wifi from my Airport Extreme Time Capsule backup, because I doubted I'd ever need a file transfer cable again. The Wifi transfer took only about 3 hours for about 160 GB. Impressed.
