So I just bought my brand-new white Macbook 2.0 Ghz plus free student ipod and the mini-dvi to dvi adapter for my external LCD/keyboard/mouse.

So far, running great. Already starting to feel the limitations of the 512MB ram - I will have to upgrade to 2GB soon. No mooing, or any noise for that matter - it's silent except the keys seem to make a lot of noise when typing.

Even the heat is not bad - Coreduotemp reports I'm running at about 66 C while we're in the middle of a heatwave here in CA. The temperature of the case is fairly reasonable.

However, when I plug in my USB keyboard, my home and end keys don't work! They work using the built in keyboard but not the USB one. This might sound like a minor quibble but I'm addicted to using home and end keys :) I type very fast and so I keep hitting those keys and typing stuff in the wrong place because I forget they don't work... So how do I get my home/end keys back?

Thanks

Do you really mean "my home and end keys do not do the same thing as they do in Windows"? iirc even with a Mac keyboard Home and End do not do the same things in OSX as they do in Windows.

I mean, they act properly when using the built-in keyboard. While typing this, I can hit apple-left (home) and the text cursor jumps furthest left possible, and vice versa apple-right (end). The home and end keys on the usb keyboard do absolutely nothing. :)
