While it connects to my home wireless network splendidly when it first starts up, it seems that after a period of not doing anything online for a while, the wireless simply drops. Turn Airport on and off and suddenly it can't even see my network anymore. Nothing I do will make it connect besides restarting. Not even logging off and back on will make my networks come back.

The networks are seen constantly on my iMac G5 and various Windows laptops in the house.

What's the deal? The only explanation I can come up with is I have a faulty AirPort... That's not good.

Any ideas? Please help. :(

[Edit] Looks like it's not just me: http://danbirchall.multiply.com/journal/item/320

But I haven't seen anybody on the MR Forums have this problem? And where's the fix? It's INFURIATING to have your internet die after only a few minutes and then have to restart the computer to get it back!? That's ridiculous! Please help!

Looks like it's a 10.4.10 problem:

Anyone else having this issue with their MacBook? When can we expect a fix?

This keeps happening to me on my brand new SR MBP. :( The wifi connection suddenly dies and the only thing that restores it is a shutdown & restart. Plus when it dies, it causes Finder or other apps reading from the network to bomb or perpetual beachball. I installed 10.4.10 immediately after getting it so I'm not sure if its the culprit or not, but sure sounds like it. And I thought Macs don't crash.

Well I'm not getting any kernal panics and crashes like some people are getting, but the problem is definitely debilitating.

No internet? My MacBook is pretty much useless.

So all we can do is wait for Apple to wake up and address the issue? :(

[EDIT]: Scratch that. I just had a kernal panic. Until Apple releases a fix for this I'm disabling my AirPort and not daring going on the internet again with this thing... :(

Do you think an Archive and Install from my MAC OS X DVDs would solve the problem? It came with 10.4.9...
