is there going to be a revised macbook by September 21st? Because i am planning to switch for school, but i just cant wait any longer than this.

Highly doubtful, the Macbook just came out. Wait until the Paris Expo if you can, otherwise you wont have any regrets buying one now.
i dont want to buy an apple laptop now because i have heard that there is a massive callback because of overheating batteries...what?
I say go for it, just buy the MacBook. I'm sure others echo my words, the MacBook is a great machine and is more than enough for the average user... Unless your a Motion Graphics Artist or a Gamer....
I just bought one, so I'm fairly comfortable that there isn't going to be an update. But if there was it wouldn't be the end of the world, you still would have an awesome computer, and it'll be updated eventually while you own it -- this one or the next.

Parallels is probably a better option, since to run windows applications you don't have to reboot into Windows like you do if you use BootCamp.
what about http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/ they have a 60 day beta and a discounted buy price. its cheaper than either parallels or boot camp, I'v downloaded it but haven't got a chance to use it.

I loaded office xp as a trial and the install was clean - everything works, takes about the same amount of time to start as Excel normally does , but was much more responsive once it was working.
I will say that it is really a windows app, and boy does it look sad on a Mac!
