New MacBook

Hey Everyone,

I'm looking forward to becoming a first time Mac owner (not user). I'm interested in the Black MacBook, but I'm skeptical of making the purchase, because I've always bought Apple products and weeks later, they come out with something updated and better. I haven't really been following rumors on new MacBooks, but does anyone expect a new MacBook release in the next few months and would you recommend I wait for something better?

It is expected that Leopard, iWork 07 and iLife 07 will come out in or before June...

Can you wait at least 4-5 months? This is my assumption of when the new Macbooks are coming out. I have no proof, just an assumption.

i think your find this applies to anything tech related, and id be worried if this wasnt the case, i always buy in the knowledge im getting the best available at the time of purchase, ANYTHING tech you ever buy will out of date within weeks ALWAYS, but that doesnt make it any worse than when you bought it.

Not with apple, their stuff is generally updated around 6 months schedules....you're getting confused with sony etc...

Considering Apple is using Intel CPUs and chipsets, the chances of being caught 100% in the dark on an upgrade are nil.

The next major update all depends on when Intel kicks the Crestline chipset/Santa Rosa platform out the door.

If you see a bunch of these machines at CompUSA, you know you are close to Apple releasing a new MacBook the week after you buy it.

However, if they aren't around for awhile -- a slight speed bump could show up.
