why did they release them? i dont know why they released them, apple was going for being a greener company, but they hadnt even changed the case to aluminum, what a poor choice for an upgrade, they just waisted money, their macbooks were alright

WOW..just had a look and they look the same but with the x3100.guess ill be waitn awhle for a new look. why would they need to upgrade the graphics anyway

If you think about it, aren't going to release a major revision to their best selling product before the holiday season. They'll save that for Q1/Q2 when sales start to decline. So Apple gave the MacBook a speed bump to keep the interest going until then.

Maybe to you they are a waste

but I have been waiting for this forever! As others have mentioned the x3100 is a great addition, and perhaps just as importantly, we can go up to 4gb of ram. For those of us that use lots of memory hungry apps this is a HUGE plus. You get 33% more max, and as an added bonus, still stay dual channel. I think this is the perfect macbook upgrade myself.

Some people are never happy:rolleyes:

Do you actually follow Apple product releases?

A minor update like todays doesn't warrant a form factor change. Major redesigns of the outside happen when there are major redesigns of the inside.

Ha Ha waist Ha ha

Upgrading the chipset is a total waste, wow Apple is so foolish.

Exactly. They shouldn't bother upgrading chipsets. Just start shipping macbooks with a free usb powered windmill. That would make people buy it. ;)

Don't you mean windmill-powered MacBooks? I'd so buy one of those just for this kind of conversation.

"Why's your laptop fan so large?"
"Oh, that's my power supply."
"Frigging stupid Macs..." :D

If newer wasn't better, you'd be driving a Model T right now.

Surely they have to keep updating technology, however minor rather than them go stale, perhaps the original parts inside were becoming hard to get - after all if you are wanting large bumps in performance that is what the Pro machines are for...

Just my opinion..

you don't actually think this was "the" upgrade...do you?
i would look for new laptops in jan. . both the mb and mbp are due for design changes. the cpu upgrade is simply apples effort to release the latest technology. it's kind of funny to read all of the whines that people post.

Sarcasm On

They released them for the reasons mentioned in the above posts and also so that someone who claims to want an imac could start threads like this one:rolleyes:

Sarcasm Off
