my intuition is the following: the macbooks, as they are right now, are still selling very well. Why would they upgrade them, when they're still in stock everywhere. They also just fixed the problems they had with them. So, they will keep selling them for a few more weeks, so Apple can maximize profits as much as possible. Then, around Thanksgiving, they will be releasing the new macbooks. Just a guess. The macbooks were first introduced on May 16, 2006... and usually, Apple tries to upgrade computers every six months (when they can ;-))
