i am waiting to get a new black macbook, however. Does anyone know when i can expect the new models of macbook to be released. I don't really want to get one now if new ones are due out early 07. Anyone shed any light?

Also, and this is a newbie question (i've only just turned to mac from pc) what is the current OS for mac, is it leopard or tiger? Also whats the new OS thats due out just before vista???

thanks for all help

Just buy the thing. There's no sense - EVER - to wait until a new machine is coming out unless - and this is the only reason to wait - if Macworld is coming up. MacBooks are probably not going to be updated for a while, so just buy it.

Also, the OS we're running right now is Tiger. Leopard is supposed to come out first half of 2007. We don't know exactly yet as that hasn't been released yet.

New 'books are always round the corner. However, C2D ones pretty much just arrived. Tiger is the OS now, and leopard should be out in 'spring', not before vista.

The new models (upgrade from Core Duo to Core 2 Duo) just came out a few weeks ago. So, if you're waiting for something "newer" than that, it will be awhile.

The current OS is Tiger. Leopard will be coming out after Vista, probably sometime early spring.

Probably April-June 2007 -- you should get a better idea as the Santa Rosa/Centrino Pro systems are shipped.

January announcement of Leopard shipping in February 2007 possible also -- more likely in April. Depends on how they attack Vista.

$129 is very cheaper price when it comes to mac os x technology you will expect. however, windows vista ultimate will be over $400. that's ridiculous. almost every technology vista uses is just the copy, stealing from mac os x. that's not even deserved to be paid $129. how many people will actually buy windows vista OS only not getting PC with bundle? I don't understand why windows vista has different kind of versions which could make consumers so confused. don't they just make simple two versions like mac os x?

Server and client perhaps?

I've just bought a c2d black macbook. I've been waiting a while to replace my rev c 12" powerbook and figured that it's not going to be updated for another 6 months at least so it was time to buy.

The first versions of any OS are always a little buggy. It'll be June before I think Leopard will be stable enough for me (Maybe March./April release).
