Hi-Lurker, seldom poster, just bought a new mini after my ISP sent me an email telling me I've been accused of sending bulk email and unless I fixed my windows computer by putting on antivirus ware, antispyware, a firewall, etc, my cable would be discontinued. I already have all these on my machines, and had a tech guy come and clean my computer(and found nothing) so I decided to go back to Macs as I've had good luck in the past except my work required programs that only windows had at that time.
I've had the mini about 3 weeks, it is quiet, can't hear the fan, doesn't smell bad, restarted once with the big software download this week and does everything my windows machine does/did, even was able to put the program my work requires to access it at home by using firefox instead of safari.
I bought the $799 machine, upgraded to 4 gigs of ram, as my uses are pretty minimal (email, games-solitare and shanghai, and accessing the internet as my own library) so this machine is adequate by far. I already had a 23" Samsung LCD, and bought a $12 logitech keyboard from WalMart, and am good to go.
Plus with the money I saved by not buying the 24" imac(my other interest) I paid for almost half of the aluminum macbook I also bought to have something to be mobile with.
This blog was very helpful as I spent many hours looking at others experiences with the mini, macbook and imacs.
Thanks for listening. Bill

Congrats! I took just got my mac mini last week to replace my dying windows lappy. Its awesome this is by far the best little machine I have ever owned. :D

I just spent hours tearing down my father's old computer set up today and setting up his new Mac Mini that just arrived in the mail.

Made sure every wire was properly coiled and zip tied so that I don't have to deal with that mess again in the future. Haha. Also got rid of his ancient stereo (turn-table and tape deck only) which freed the back of his desk from numerous speaker and antenna cords.

Taking care of his rig like that makes me want to tackle my entertainment system in my bedroom-- my wires are a mess back there! 4 gaming systems, 2 dvd players and a stereo really do make quite a tangle.

Congrats on your return to Macs!

I was going to buy a Mac Mini over the summer, but I think I am going to save through the fall now and just buy a Macbook Pro and then use my Macbook in place of a Mac Mini.

Hi, I'm long winded. ;D

I just got my new mac mini also!

paid $588 shipped for it through Powermax, ordered it on wednesday around 2pm and it came today(thursday) at 5pm. Free shipping too!

Just installed 4gb of ddr3 RAM and a 320gb 7200rpm hard drive, bought both of them for about 105 dollars.

This thing is awesome

I love how there are no fans in the thing, it's great on size seeing i will be taking it when i travel, and i love the OS :D

connecting a 2year old 30 inches Mac Cinema Monitor to a new minimac

Is it possible to do it. If yes how. I am not an expert, please keep the jargon to the minimum.

Thank you for your help
