Hi,

Just a quick not to let you know that I've just released the latest version (1.3) of Barcode Basics - more info and link to App Store here:

https://itunes.apple.com/app/barcode-basics-barcode-generator/id756888963

…hope it will be of interest to some of you. Feedback and comments would be very much appreciated, as of course would be sales! ;-)

I appreciate there are many barcode solutions available but as an ex-graphic designer, I always found the hard part was finding software that was affordable AND supported things like bar width reduction and vector artwork. It always seemed like you could have one or the other. So I developed Barcode Basics – a simple and cheap way of generating the most common barcode types e.g EAN13, EAN 8, UPC-A, UPC-E and ITF14.

Just in case it's not 100% clear already, I'm the developer. Feel free to leave feedback either here, on the app store or via the app's "Contact support…" menu.

Regards
Rob

New version, new codes...

Hi,

We just released a new version (1.4) of Barcode Basics. The biggest change is support for more types of code:

MSI Plessey
ISBN (for books)
ISMN (for music)
ISSN (periodical publications)

We've also tidied up the user interface and given it a cleaner icon. Upgrade is free for existing users via the Mac App Store.

I've neglected updating this thread for a while. Just to update you, we're now up to version 1.9 which includes support for Code 39 and Code 128 codes. Free upgrade for current users via the Mac App Store!

Hi,

Just to keep folks updated, version 2.3 of Barcode Basics is released today. Apart from a slightly tidier user interface, we've added a raft of new barcode types including:

  • GS1 Databar Omnidirectional
  • GS1 Databar Stacked
  • GS1 Databar Stacked Omnidirectional
  • GS1 Databar Truncated
  • GS1 Databar Limited
  • Interleaved 2 of 5
  • EAN-14
  • SSCC-18

As always, it's a free upgrade for existing users.

Hope you find it useful!

Wow! Barcode Basics is three years old this month! The anniversary coincides nicely with a ground up rewrite and release of version 4 which brings the much requested barcode preview.

However, the main reason for the rewrite was to pave the way for some cool new features in the versions ahead of us. Watch this space!

Barcode Basics 4 is a free update for existing users through the Mac App Store. For new users, get it here: https://itunes.apple.com/app/barcode-basics-barcode-generator/id756888963

Hi,

Just a quick note to let you know that those of you who don't like the Mac App Store can now purchase Barcode Basics from FastSpring instead:

http://sites.fastspring.com/ghostotter/product/barcodebasics

FastSpring adds the option to store a backup copy of your purchase online for a year and/or have physical media shipped in addition to your download.

Of course, you can still purchase via the Mac App Store if you prefer:

PZN-7
PZN-8

I have an (urgent) question regarding the PZN.
It does create a check-digit (or actually a check-letter) after the PZN in the standard settings.

We have a packaging in the print at the moment and the printer informs us that there is a letter, where from the pzn standard there should be none.

I have two questions:
Why is that there (I cannot find any other app that does that)? Are those code usable at the checkout in the pharmacies or can they not be read there?

Any fast information would be greatly appreciated.
