I recently upgraded from a 2018 12.9” iPad Pro to the new 13” pro and added the new Magic Keyboard. So far, I like it. However, there is one oddity that I have noticed. I will sometimes access my hospital’s electric medical record system (EPIC) when I’m on the road. To do so, I have to use an app called Workspace to gain access and get through security. Up to this point, no issues. When EPIC opens and I try to log in, the keyboard trackpad becomes unusable. It will not control the cursor and I have to either use my finger or the new Pencil.
Has anyone else encountered an app that the Magic Keyboard doesn’t seem to like?

The nPlayer video player app does not work well with a keyboard or mouse. It goes into a Select mode and essentially locks up there and has to be fully closed out to recover. Some apps have not been modified to work with external input devices.

Some apps go out of their way to break them too - Discord is a frequent offender on this. (when called out, they claim a keyboard is not an expected iPad accessory and therefore they don't have to support it)

You should ask your IT department to open a support request with Citrix, they may be able to provide workarounds or an ETA of a fix. Citrix is usually pretty responsive to issues like this but maybe they’re having the same issues getting their hands on the new iPads as the rest of us :)

It looks like there is a workaround posted on the Citrix Reddit, YMMV but worth a try: https://www.reddit.com/r/Citrix/comments/1cstfmj/_/l4mxqz0

This! I emailed the dev to see if they can fix it (no response) ... it works when I'm in the List view, but not Icon view.

And the app hasn't been abandoned, it's still receiving updates... but for some reason it goes into Select mode in the Icon view. And maybe it's a case where not enough nPlayer users use a keyboard... perhaps, that's why it hasn't fixed.

But 8 months, according to the update history... there's a fix for keyboard input.

Yeah, it's irritating when I forget and use the keyboard. Otherwise, it's a great app.

Google document apps in Safari require screen poke to make the “use the app” message go away. I think it has something to do with floating UI elements not being seen as in front by the cursor.

I just re-read this and picked up on the icon view - I never tried it in list view and I see that it isn't an issue there.

Yeah, I emailed the dev twice about this issue and haven't gotten a response. And I really like the app... plenty of features and some minor customization. I purchased the Android version too.

But I don't understand why this issue hasn't been addressed.

It's more likely that the site sees it's an iPad/iOS device and is only listening for ontouch events on the button instead of onclick mouse events.
