Are the MBA's (or any Macbook hardware) usually available to ship sometime within the first few days of the media releases? I just wanted to get some idea, because I'm 100% for sure committed to buying the new MBA, but I need to sell my old MBP within the next few days to get the cash. Because I need a laptop for most of my Uni work, I wanted to know how long I might be without a computer, if for example I sold my MBP on Wednesday and ordered the MBA Wednesday as well.

Also, I'm really itching to sell off my old MBP as soon as possible, as when people start to hear about the new models, all the older ones will become less desirable and I probably won't get as much for it, especially considering mine is still a pre-unibody.

hard to say for sure... but rumors (when in rome!) are that they're already in production and could be available as soon as the day after the event.

i'm also ready for a new Air :)

Wow... if it's same day availability, then I'm getting a new Air on Wednesday.
Sweet! I even pre-warned the wife, just in case. (And yes, I'm whipped or whatever, but she is the accountant for my household (literally, she is an accountant) and she lets me know if there is enough cash for my computer purchases.)

Can't wait for Wednesday!

If an iLife '11 and iWork '11 update is on deck, then the Apple Retail outlets would have to close and reopen. It's probably easier for them to run the updates overnight.

Internet will be right away, if available. No waiting for the brick and mortar dinosaurs!

i don't know about software, but the last few mac laptop announcements had same day availability, even though the stores did not have the display models out yet. i just walked into the apple store after the keynote and asked if they had the new ones yet and they did.

I hope iWork 11' actually autosaves otherwise its about as useful as the last one.

I think it could be as early as tomorrow, or could be as late as early December. Apple would want to have them for the holidays either way.

No need to delay it until december unless its getting Sandy Bridge or something.
