Well I couldn't resist it anymore and last night I headed to the Shinsaibashi Apple store in Osaka to see if they had any English keyboard MBAs in stock...they indeed did so I pulled the trigger on a 1.6/120 Rev. B MBA along with a superdrive, ethernet adapter, and a Tucano second skin case. Also got applecare for $50 USD less than usual.

So far I'm really happy with it. The 1.6 is a touch slow (compared to my new 2.8 MBP) but as a secondary computer for work (teacher--MS Office mainly) and for travel and laying in bed with the internet it is absolutely perfect for my needs.

Hard to think that just two months ago I was still using a Dell...what a drug Apple is...

One thing though--I downloaded SMC Fan Control and it told me the Air is an unsupported machine and forces me to quit using it...ideas?

It does give the warning but lets you continue on. SMC fan control works on both Rev A and Rev B MBAs.

... Mt Fuji was a fun climb

Make sure you're running smcFanControl version 2 and on.

Version 1 is not supported by Leopard. Version 1 looks like a normal program whereas v2 would only show up in the menu bar until you go into the preferences :)

Welcome to the MacBook Air club! :D

(You will want to make sure that vents on the back are not covered to keep it running cooler. And also running the fans at 4000RPM keeps it a bit cooler and doesn't add too much to the noise :))
