Yep, the rubber gasket is there around the screen.Wow, it almost looks like the gasket is missing that wraps around the entire screen and separates the glass from the aluminum. Do you see the gasket anywhere else on the screen?
Either way, like others have said, return it and get a new one!

A thin piece of paper actually took care of this for me. Spot removed.I have something similar but not as bad - seeing this makes me not want to even risk exchanging for it might be a worse one.
