That really sucks!! I'd return it immediately if possible, and demand an exchange for a new one.Just got my new M2 Max 16" MBP, and the keyboard and trackpad are not responding out of the box. Unable to even go through the setup.

Mine did as well! Right at the edge it is scuffed and a extremely sharp edge, I thought at first someone dropped it but you can see it looks like a machining error, I was going to just file it down but when looking at it you can see a color difference that I know with my OCD is going to drive me nuts so I’m going to see about getting it replaced.Shouldn't have any issues exchanging it. Both of the Apple Stores I was in today had full stock of all models.
Mine came out of the box scuffed so I feel the disappointment.

Have you tried powering off and starting again? Or connecting a USB keyboard/mouse?Just got my new M2 Max 16" MBP, and the keyboard and trackpad are not responding out of the box. Unable to even go through the setup.
Yep, mine is Space Gray as well!Curious, which color did you get?
Mine was Space Gray which seems like it’s a little more susceptible to damage.
I tried that and multiple other things and was never able to get the keyboard or trackpad to work. A Magic Mouse and keyboard would work but never the built in.Have you tried powering off and starting again? Or connecting a USB keyboard/mouse?
It might just have 'stalled', i've had macOS setup assistant do that to me before.
