As described in the user guide, with pressing the [fn] key, we can change the brightness, volumn, etc. But I find in OS X 10.4.9, [fn] key of the new MBP doesn't work at all. Instead, [ctrl] key works as the function of [fn]. However, in Vista with Boot Camp 1.3 installed. the [fn] works as it's supposed. Any ideas?

You don't need to hold the function key while you press the volume and brightness buttons, just ignore that whole function key when you want to change those things.

All MBs and MBPs I've seen ship with the Fn button being used to access the F keys, while the buttons by themselves controlling the Volume, Brightness, etc. There is a setting in control panel to swap this.
