Yea, but it's recorded on 1024x768 and medium. It's not going to look that much different from, say, HL2. IIRC, there are high and ultra settings for that game - and you need to be at least high to get the new feel. And for a game like crysis, graphics, not gameplay, is the focus.

you need about 4 grand to get crysis running at native res on high and on a notebook at 40+ fps

But the improvement is really the focus here, you dont buy a macbook to play crysis.

That seems like a crazy improvement seeing how mediocre of an upgrade the 9600 is. I guess its in the faster ram as well?

It seems very odd when you factor in that the HP uses the same 9600GT as well.

I thought that one or the other chipset was active (one for battery one for plugged in). Yet the numbers are radically different even compared to similar hardware

Vista SP1 + DirectX 10 allows the use of both GPUs at the same time. Also, the game has to be able to support the API to make it work. Crysis is likely one of the few that do support it.

OSX 10.5.x only does switching between the GPUs. I suspect Snow Leopard will allow simultaneous dual use.

how is that double? I get much better performance on 1440x900, low-med settings, 30+ FPS. and that looks so much better than 1024x768 med settings.

mb

8600m gt didn't play COD4 that well. it could be "playable" for some people, but if you've played the console version or if you even watched other people play it on consoles or on good computers, you're in for a letdown.

The new MB will be able to run COD4. But as far as how playable it will be? If you don't mind not getting smooth gameplay, then go for it.
