First Mac in 15 years, so please be patient.

A few minutes ago, as I am sitting here typing, I stopped to pause and stretch, and rested the base of both my palms just below the vent/speaker areas on either side of the keyboard, kinda near the fn/ctrl buttons on the left and the arrows on the lower right hand corner.

As I did this, I exerted some pressure, symmetrically, in both these areas. As I did this, I noticed a discernible dimming of the screen that resolved as I eased up on the pressure.

I am able to intermittently reproduce this with the same action, albeit it is more noticeable at the screen brightness about 50% versus when it's cranked up to full brightness. Sometimes, it is even more prominent if I roll the bases of my palms inward toward the upper margin of the trackpad at the same time.

Do I need to take this to the Apple Store where I bought it to have it looked at, or is this a known problem with MBPs? I've searched and haven't seen it anywhere else.

Haha. This is almost like a gag thread. :p

You can change the behavior of the ambient light sensor in your Displays panel in the System Preferences.

Ooops. Guess I didn't realize my hands were that close to the sensors:p

File under "stupid noobie questions 101".
