Just bought a new MBP 2.2 last week. First Mac ever and I'm generally very pleased with it. I have a couple of issues that I thought you folks might be able to help with, and that I haven't found answers to in other threads:

1.) The top of my screen has a bright band of pixels. The very top 12 pixels are so (half of the apple menu bar) appears brighter than the rest of the screen. This happens at all brightness levels, in all applications, etc. I was in my local Apple Store over the weekend, and all of the MBPs and some of the MBs they had on display had the same problem. Advice? I'd have to return the machine via AppleCare since it's custom-built from the online store.

2.) The eject key is crooked, and I haven't been able to force it back into place or pop it off as I've done on previous notebooks I've owned. Is there a trick to this or should I take it into the store?

3.) I've read the advice on apple.com about battery management, but it doesn't exactly say what one should do if their MBP is their primary computer. Is it fine to leave it plugged in most/all of the day, as long as I recalib. every so often? Should I let it sleep overnight on battery?

4.) Any known way to change the opacity of either dashboard or exposé?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Bump

Anyone? At least a hint as to the prevalence of this problem would be helpful to me before I try to deal with AppleCare. Thanks.

I have backlight bleeding on my MBP SR 2.4 17" Hi Res. At the bottom mainly but also at the top. Only noticeable when viewing black screen. Not over the moon with it but the screen is still fantastic and this is a common issue with all lcd screens? I'm going to sit on mine for the moment, I have 3 years to worry about AppleCare if it gets worse.

You don't say if you have a 15"LED screen or 17" normal?

From what I understand, it is OK to leave the MBP plugged in most of the time, just calibrate the battery exactly as per :apple: instructions at least once a month if you do. It mightn't do any harm to occasionally use it off battery too - this is what I am doing with mine.

Good luck with your questions and answers.

hey there welcome to the forums.
ill try to answer them all for ya, no promises

1)the brighter pixels arent that much of a problem, is yours the LED backlit screen?? the diode from the LED might be up the top and be to bright at that section. i wouldnt worry about it to much. you could take it to your apple store or talk about it to them, send them an email.

2)if the eject key is crooked it musnt have been placed on properly, ive heard that you can take the keys off but i tried it once and wasnt fully game to take it off incase i broke it. can some1 clarify this??

3) i use my mbp as my primary computer, it hasnt been turned off for 13days days and nights. i dont have the battery in, i only put it in when i am at school or moving about. you can leave the battery plugged in if you wish but leaving it fully charged all the time does some damage to the overall capacity of it. just pull the battery out. if you let it sleep on battery overnight you may loose anywhere from 5-15% battery because it has to maintain memeory. but u can do it if you want to.

4) as far as im aware there is no way to change opacity of either dashboard or expose, sorry

hope it clears a bit!

15" screen, no issues at the bottom (I didn't check on the ones in the store, but there were no other obvious problems with them).
