But it's the same as in the UK online store.

But it could be nice to be able to buy it a little cheaper here in Denmark

That price includes VAT.

US prices do not include tax.

The prices are actually just about closer than they've ever been due to the weakness of the US dollar.

Not that expensive in this case

Is there anything in Denmark that is less or as expensive? I've heard it's quite expensive to live there on pretty much all accounts.

Everything is expensive in Denmark, but not that expensive in this case.;) The low end Macbook Pro is 2141 USD without tax. The price 2685 USD is with tax. Yes that's 25% tax.

The low-end 15" is roughly US$2200 here [AUD$2899], which is a lot cheaper than it used to be. No iPod deal at the moment because our school year is different; we start in Feb, and have our winter break across July.

Im traveling to DK next month and I was thinking to buy a MBP there but after checking DK price I know it would be an ass saving to buy in north America. Guess I will buy 2 or more to sell in DK.:D :D :D

ouch i thought we were being shafted in NZ -2549USD here.

Yeah I figured it would be cheaper to get my sis-in-law to send one over from the US. Even after paying import GST it would be hundreds cheaper than buying it here.

Now you're thinking straight! :)

Most things are expensive in Denmark. I remember paying US$15 for a Whopper meal at Burger King in Copenhagen...

We pay ALOT in taxes in Denmark. If you buy a car I think you will pay about 200% of the cars original price, in tax.

But for that we get "free" medical help at hospitals, doctors and so on, we can go to university/college for free and you don't have to pay for old-age homes just to name a few positive things. I remember reading that Denmark has one of the best social service systems in the world.

But as with everything there is pros and cons...

Seems like Sony isn´t the only one pillaging us Europeans.

Luckily I´m going to Canada in two weeks and will get my MBP there. Can´t wait :D
The low-end 15" is about 300 Euros less, high end 15" 400 Euros less and 17" 500 Euros less than here in Austria.
(1 Euro is now 1.34 USD)

Here in Norway it costs 2,803.36 USD for the "low end" MBP, and guess what? NO student discount or free ipod :(

I can get a F'in 17" for that price Plus an ipod

But if you take out the 25% 'MVA = Merverdiavgift (informally moms)', the "low end" MBP is priced very close to what it is in the US, no?

I guess I'm missing the point of this thread. It's not to suggest that Apple should lower the price of their machines sold overseas so that after some huge foreign tax is put on them, they'd still be near the same price as in the US, is it?

Given that it's 2141$USD without the 25% tax, that means it's priced only 142$USD higher for you. It's not as bad as you thought.

Prices on the US and Canadian stores do not include the taxes because the rate is different for each state/province. A lot of people keep forgetting that (or just don't know), so we get such the typical "Apple prices in europe are unfair" thread every few months.

Price in Denmark for the "low" 15" MBP SR is 2685 USD, thats just unfair :(

+ NO FREE IPOD FOR STUDENTS
I believe the free ipod offer will start a bit later across europe. Last year the "back to school" program went from August, 1 through October, 7.

That was one of the strange things for me when I was there. I'd heard about the good social system in Denmark, but still saw plenty of homeless people on the streets. I don't know, I suppose most homeless people have problems that simply can't be helped by any social system.

Man, I got all curious...but it's just the tax.

Why don't they show tax in the US store? Is it because we're a bunch of wimps and would hide from the high prices?

Most of the homeless people in Denmark choose to be homeless. You REALLY have to **** things up to not get babied around in the social system, getting money for doing nothing...

I think it's because unlike the VAT (which is the same for an entire country, AFAIK), the tax in the US store varies by each of the 50 states.
