Hey-

About a week ago, i brought my mbp to the apple 5th avenue store for the whine fix, and then they ended up replacing the logic board, screen inverter, bottom case, keyboard and airport while it was there. Today, I went into the Apple Store Roosevelt Field to complain about a very small gap under the top case, which probably was within specifications, but while I was there, I just asked for a new machine, and they gave me one no charge! The genius read over the notes for the computer, and I showed him the receipts from the last repair, and he just gave me a new one! The new MBP is a 2.16 ghz instead of a 2! And the warranty starts over :D

Pretty great trade, airkarol.

I do have to say that you should really confirm what's going on with your warrantee. I've had apple replace products and they don't typically just start the Applecare over. In fact, I can't think of any company that would do that. Unless you actually paid a premium for the replacement and got a new applecare policy for it. But yah, I doubt your applecare did in fact start over.

In the replacement that they sent me(not keeping it because box is damaged and 2 of the 3 sets of seals on the box are broken) I checked the serial and it showed warranty as being new.

It's a brand new computer, it's a new box, everything is new. The warranty does start over.

Wow. I'm sorry you got such a stinker of a first MBP.... and I'm happy Apple fixed it with a new copy. Enjoy your new Power- oops. Mac Book Pro.

Glad to see a happy ending with a great new machine. I've been breaking in my new MBP for 4 days and am so pleased with it (I was holding out for the revision, but my old PB kicked the bucket); it runs fast, no real heat issues, and a lot of great features. Enjoy!:D

I wish it still had that name.
