Been a PC guy my whole life. After 2 cheapo PCs over the years, I decided to give Macs a try. Main drive is to get more life out of our home computer as I have a wife and 2 teenagers. My PCs typically went 2-3 years before becoming incredibly slow / infected with spyware/adware/etc that I could not recover from. I think my wife will have an easier time on the Mac vs the PC as well

Receive my iMac on friday
Refurb Core i3 21.5"

Once more, congrats and welcome to the forum!

I was in your exact same situation btw, and I got mine a few weeks ago :D

Sweet way to enter the world of Macs. I just recieved the exact same refurbished last week and love it. When I got my first Mac, however, I wasn't as smart as you. I walked into the store and paid full price for a new one when they were coming out with the new line about a month after. I didn't know about refurbished or the Macrumors buyer's guide.

Hi thomap1,

I'm getting my 1st ever iMac on thursday 20th. Very excited and nervous. I wanted to do the same as your good self and get a refurb but i got a chunk of vouchers for my birthday and they won't take them online or over the phone

Let me know how you get on as any tips you find will be very useful! ;)

Welcome, new to Mac also, almost 1 month now. This forum is great, I spend a lot of time reading and learning.

Congrats!

For the first time, I am a new and proud owner of an iMac. I've had a MacBook Pro for 2 years now, however, I wanted more performance and a better graphical experience. Thus, I sold my MBP and purchased a new 2010 2.93GHz Quad-Core i7 iMac.

Let me just say, "WOW!" This machine has exceeded my expectations in every way. This piece of machinery will hold me over until the next MBP refresh. ;-)

If you have multiple people in the house, set up individual user accounts and you get to use that 'never gets old' graphical switch when you switch the login. Love those little touches ;)

Yay!
Seriously guy, I'm a PC tech.
Your Mac will run faster longer
You will not get spyware
You will not have bloatware

I make my money off sh-t PC's
Welcome to the family
