Hello...
Sorry if question is a bit stupid but...!

I have just bought 2 new 8gb dimms of memory and can't work out if they should be in a certain bank/slot...

Here is a pic of where they are now:

Am I right in thinking that they are in slots 2 and 4? And does it matter which bank they end up in? My Lightroom still feels a bit slow and has got me wondering if they are not in their optimum positions...

Any ideas would be very helpful :)

Thanks a lot.

Hi..
Thanks for replying.
I was googling around and couldn't find a definitive answer. I had taken out my old 8gb of RAM as I also read somewhere that you should replace rather than use two different brands together...

But then I came across this legend and he answered all my questions:

FYI: It is safe to try different sticks together. If the machine boots and is happy, done.

If it beeps at you and does not boot, it did not pass POST (power on self test), which tests several things including RAM.

A second, much less likely outcome would be random kernel panics or restarts. No panics, no problems.
