New Mini display port to HDMI adapter issue. Help requested???

I have a current imac i3 21 inch. My problem is that i cant get my 42 inch 1080p toshiba to have a clear sharp picture. The colors look over saturated. I played around with the tv and cant get the picture quite right. Open to any suggestions and help. Is there anyway to change the color bit depth on the output? Thank you in advanced!!!

Have you tried calibrating it (System Preferences > Displays > Color)?
