I've just picked up a brand new C2D 2.0GHz 2GB mini. Yup, too impatient to wait for the refresh, whenever that might be.

I had expected this little thing to be quieter than it is. It's not that it's loud exactly (except when I play 720p video, at which point it becomes a bit of a screamer), but should I be hearing the fan when all I'm doing is browsing the web?

For example, all I have running right now is Finder and Firefox (with the Macrumors forums thread editor in a single tab) and I can hear the whir and grind of the fan (which actually seems uncertain about just how fast it wants to run).

Thoughts?

Andrew.

I used to have the same model mini and it was virtually silent in normal use.

I couldn't hear it while sitting with the mini placed 3 - 4 feet away and I had to move close up to it to hear that the fan was actually running.

Im using a mini to type this message and it's literally pin drop silent. I can't hear a single thing and have never been able to unless I had a running disc in there.
