I have a Vizio 1080p 37" TV which I had a dell hooked up with a cheap nvidia card (forget the chipset but it was 128mb ddr2 ram).
VGA cable to the TV and it was fine at 1920x1080. Well the computer died and I went out and bought a brand new mac mini.
Got it with the Mini DisplayPort VGA adapter (The $30 Apple one from the apple store).
Video is wavy - kinda shakey. It's not consistent though and it comes and goes (but out of 10 minutes, 9 minutes of it will be this way). It's also pretty minor and I can barely notice it 6 feet away. But looking at it at the desk I notice it.
It does it on lower resolutions and it does it on 720p until I changed the refresh to 75hz. Then it stopped. I don't remember setting the old desktop to a certain refresh but the Mini only allows 60hz at 1920x1080
Think I have an issue? I was going to go return the Mini DisplayPort VGA adapter and get the Mini DVI Port VGA adapter. See if the quality changed. Otherwise I found a Mini DP to HDMI adapter on Monoprice I was going to give a try.
I just can't imagine the mini will have any trouble feeding 1920x1080 with its new graphics card and perhaps it's an issue with the digital to analog conversion? I know for a fact the TV works fine because other machines work fine.
If I get the Mini DVI converter I can try my MacBook but that only has the onboard intel (144mb shared) not sure if that does that high of a resolution
Whatcha guys think?
