Hi everyone,

I just got a BTO MBA that came with ML pre-installed.

I, however, would not feel comfortable using the machine until I had done a secure erase of the entire pre-installed hard drive (512 SSD) and then reinstalled ML.

Can someone please help me do this?

All I want in a fresh drive with ML installed... call it OCD, call it paranoia, but it is very real and I can't use the machine until I have done this.

Thanks guys, as always, for helping me out when I get upset. You are the best and one of the kindness communities out there, despite the snark :) xx

I would think you would just boot into the recovery partition , use disk utility to erase the hard drive and re-install.

Can't access Security Functions!

This is the process that I get when I try to do a:

1) Secure (i.e. overwrite) erase of the current hard drive

2) Reinstall Mountain Lion

As you can see, there are two hard drives to choose from:

i) 500.28 GB APPLE SSD S..

ii) Macintosh HD

Please note that the Security Options button is totally greyed out.

Please advise! :p:p
