New Monitor - not sure of which one

Hi guys, I need an external monitor for video editing and photography. I am using a late 2013 MacBook pro 15" and it should be able to run a 4K monitor without any problems. If I'm wrong please correct me.

I've been close to ordering it for a few weeks now but thought i'd ask here for suggestions before I kick 1000$ out the door. This monitor has a 10 bit screen, i dont really have much experience with this, but i assume it would look be easier to determine the right color in my pictures and grading? I'm also wondering if 32" is the way to go, there is a similar 27" model, but I've heard that 4K isn't really worth it unless you get a monitor that is minimum 32", or else you wouldn't really notice it. So i've also considered buying a 21:9 aspect ratio screen, but I dont want to see any pixels, too used to my retina screen, so i'm afraid to gamble on it. That's also why i'm unsure if 32" is the right way to go, the ppi would be higher on a 27" monitor.

I think other features you haven't mentioned that you need to consider are uniformity, colour gamut and calibration.
How are you planing to calibrate your monitor? Do you already have a device?
If not some high end monitors come with built in calibrators.
If you have the budget I'd go for an Eizo. If you really want 4K look at the CG318 or CG248.
NEC PA322 would be another good choice.
Lastly we started selling BenQ's a while back and they are amazing monitors at a cracking price. Check out the PV3200PT.

Maybe consider an HP z27s monitor. It is not in the same league for photographic use as the ones mentioned by @Apple fanboy. They are seriously good kit.

Pre calibrated means nothing. All panels drift. All panels need regular calibration.
If your looking at spending less than $1000, then my suggestion is either forget the 4K or go smaller than 32".
Otherwise you'll end up with a monitor that isn't as good as you need for video and photography.

4K, 10 bit, 1k$ is important. The rest is debatable.

Both those monitors are sRGB monitors, so not wide Color gamut. Were you looking for sRGB or Higher?

That being the case I would think you want a monitor that does Adobe RGB gamut for stills or DCI-P3 for video. Adobe RBS is more red biased than P3.

I'm no monitor expert but I've had a 27" ASUS ProArt for a while now and I'm pretty satisfied with it. It's not 4k. It does come pre calibrated but I calibrate it once a month with a spyder 4 express. I do not find that it drifts much at all though the express does not do a custom calibration. I'm no pro so it fits my budget and needs just fine. As a matter of fact, the little red symbol on the top tray is telling me my calibration is due!
