I gave away my iphone and got this, pure android lollipop is fas and smooth. The best phone I have ever owned and android is vastly better now thsn the sgs2 I owned. Great size at 5.7. I am going overboard with dark themes since I was sick of ios bright white. Turbo charge is great, 15 to 20 minutes and I'm at 70%. I picked up an aukey 15000 quick charger portable which takes the same amount of time but I do not need it unless I game a lot.

If going android is what someone wants to do the x pure is a great choice and pure android lollipop is amazing. Not at all like gingerbread and ics was. Should be getting marshmallow in a week or two ota.

yes, anyone considering an android should go for the "pure" versions - none of the touchwiz **** that sammy ships with.

Yep, I agree. Much different and thank you. I was originally android and spent 2 years iphone, the customization is a big part of the experience. Nova launcher, HD widgets and an icon pack. The nova launcher prime and hd widgets I had from before.

I customized i.e., flashed ROMS etc etc a lot and spent countless hours trying to follow instructions on XDA and it was more of a money sees monkey does thing. So now I've jumped to iOS - the stability and the battery life is surprisingly calming. Guess I'm just getting old now .. lol

Yes, I rooted my sgs2 and did a lot of roms. I jumped to ios, am over 60, and thought it would be the best way to go in my old age. It wasn't and turbo charge was what pushed me. Battery life is a non issue if you can get close to full charge in 15-20.

Regulars? How much longer do I have to be here to be a regular? Reading the thread and it is interresting, read a lot of threads and pic threads on android central and xda. I am getting excellent pictures, i have not found any downsides yet in a month. The last android I had I restored the os once a week, rooted and used titanium backup so it was easy, because of os rot This one is stable and smooth.

Have been spending time on the android sites again since getting it, most opinions are very positive. I got the kids three, moto g 3rd gens a couple of months ago and they love them. The lollipop on them drew me back in, the turbo charger on the x pure got me for sure. The wife is deciding between an x pure and the mexican turbo g. She likes the size of the x pure but is leery of using it on the busses and in Toluca because of the size, you can loose one to robbers easily. The 5" g pure doesn't stand out as much. She hates itunes even more than I do and has hated her iphone for 2 years.

It's as close as you will get to pure outside of nexus devices, in fact I like it better.

It's a nice phone. My only concern is Motorola the company has laid off a lot of workers and stopped fully supporting the Moto X line of phoned with timely updates.

The 2014 moto X USA versions won't get android 6.0. Even the 2015 Moto E won't get android 6.0. Before the Moto X was getting faster updates than even the Nexus phones.

To me os updates are overrated. Ios 7 and 8 were buggy as hell and even yosemite osx was horrible. El crapitan is better but still not great.

I buy the phone based on how it runs now and if it never gets an update I would not care as it runs so great on lollipop. It IS getting marshmallow though shortly but I will wait before seeing if I will update.

I had the sgs2 (we had 3 actually) for 3 years before giving it to one of the kids, it was updated to ics but I could have cared less.

I refuse to wring my hands over a phone getting updated if it runs great. If so I would just as soon get a new one built for the os and at half the price of a 6 plus I can get another brand new phone sooner.

I just do not get the obsession over updating something that runs excellent.

My next phone? Too far ahead but I have no idea what brand or it may even be a windows phone. A couple of years using a phone with the same os is not exactly "roughing" it.

Because I did not buy it for future updates, I bought it for what it does now and if I want a device that runs the latest software I will sell it and buy one designed to run it. I have a car that did not have bluetooth as an option back then and they have since added it, when are they going to add it to mine?

Why buy an iphone with ios? There is far more in android. Again, I buy a phone for what it does at that time, not for what they may or may not give me in the future.

I truly wish apple for example would go to a 2 year update cycle instead of using customers ad beta testers.

Chances are rhe new versions will run better on new phones, sell it and get a new one. The beauty of the pricing of android.

You DO know that most people don't bother updating the os, right? People hanging out on forums are not typical users. People in our family are the only ones I know that have even upgraded to windows 10.

To me 2 years is a better upgrade cycle to work out the bugs and with android pricing 2 years is a good upgrade time. I was sick to death of my iphone at well under 2 years and nothing was added that I cared about in software updates.

Moto E? A cheap one year phone, in fact I went with moto g 3rd for the kids. I will get 6.0 but at 200.00 who cares. My nvidia k1 at 200.00 will get 6.0 but don't know if I will update.

I will root anyway after 6.0 if it runs good enough to keep and stay with it.

Actually the USA Moto X 2014 Pure / Dev editions ARE getting Android 6.0

It's the carrier versions that are not. But carrier free version will. As for the Moto E, I think anyone buying a $69-89 Handset are not buying a device expecting regular Android OS updates.

Pure Versions are very easy to update. It's really no excuse.

Yup, I agree with you. So far a very nice phone, and I am pretty much hooked on the Moto voice commands as I drive a lot for work. I was fed up with how bad of a phone with a lousy keyboard that the iphone 6 plus was, plus it had a horrible and inaccurate digitizer.
I still use my iphone as a device and a backup phone, but the Pure has become my daily driver. Great phone quality, excellent keyboards as always on android, and excellent digitizer. Plus all the other goodies that come with this Motorola phone.

We don't all want the same things. With my phone I really just want security updates because I don't want the hassle of bugs and changes, my computer is a different story though. The issue with Apple and iOS is that you can't go back once they stop signing the OS which is kinda crappy.

I understand not everyone needs updates but surely people want new utility features that get added with each iteration of the OS (regardless of iOS/Android). I mean the torch in the app notification shade on android for instance - the torch was one of the widely used "app" from the app store and when it was integrated into the OS, people have one less app to download/install.

Guess it's just me then!

Calculator, whatsapp, G+, reddit, Tapatalk, FF, and Camera that's really it.
