I'm not sure if it is running Android, but it is WiFi and has Bluetooth. Makes the Nano look weak IMHO. Good work Moto!

CEO Sanjay Jha announced it has a 600MHz processor, and weighs in at just 35 grams. MotoACTV combines a GPS-enabled watch with a smart music player, which learns songs that make you work harder and plays them more often. The new watch also offers a built-in heart rate monitor (sans the chest strap), and relays every performance stat (including duration, distance, avg. pace and avg. heart rate) back to you through a bluetooth headphone set.

I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a competitor to the iPod Nano or if it's just ripping off its design.

To be fair, for $100 more, the Motorola does include a heart monitor, a GPS, is waterproof, and some other stuff for health nuts. Oh, and it's a music player.

I will be surprised if this sells well at all.

It is more going after the market Nike and Garmin have for some of there GPS watches. If you look at its price point it is right there with them and offers some great other features.

It is a workout tool. The nano can not do heart rate monitor, nor GPS track how you go or really track everything like the MotoACTV does.

I agree...I wish they would do something like that and add a bike computer. I'd shell out $250 in a heartbeat for it. Especially something that rugged. when I do long bike rides I take my iPod and that thing has gone through my spokes and dragged more than once.

yeah the bike part is what I like about it but I do not think it could take some of the crashes I have gone threw mountain biking. I have been thinking about getting a Heart Rate monitor would be great.

My understanding is it could use wireless head phones and I would love this for a road bike.

I wonder what cycling stats it tracks. To be of any use, especially on a road bike, it would have to be connected to the bike.

well there are several things it could track.
It could track your speed (GPS) but it would be the heart rate that would be really nice.

The only stat that it would be lacking from a road bike would be a cadence tracker that would require some extra hardware other wise it can track just about everything.

Yes...most of the time I have mine set to cadence....and on extra long rides I'll switch back and forth between mileage and speed as well. Which I guess it could track with GPS...

The only thing that makes this somewhat attractive compared to a 6G Nano watch (which I own) was the phone connectivity. However from the demo video, the guy only mentioned that you could answer phone calls from it- nothing about texts, emails, etc. If it cannot access those things, then no thanks- I'll buy a MetaWatch.

Umm LTD you clearly need to read this thread as multiple ones of us already explain iPod Nano and this are in two different playing fields.

iPod Nano does not have GPS in it. This product from Motorolla is more competing with something like this from Garmin http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Forerunner-Receiver-Heart-Monitor/dp/B000CSWCQA

They are very different products. Nike+ sucks compared to what this offers. Can the iPod do heart rate monitoring (nope) nor does it GPS so you can not upload your route to your computer nor can Nike+ give you a correct distance. Nike+ is a estimated guess on distance but the farther you go that distance gets more and more off with every stride or if you have to stutter step real quickly. GPS gets you pretty dead on over the run and the error will be a lot less.

Two very different products. This offers a lot more than a Nano. I would get this product long before I got a nano as it is a better work out product for things like running or road biking.

If I was just working out in a gym well my iPod is just fine for that.

And yet again you do not understand its target market. Understand its target market and get back to me. It is going to sell really well at its target market.
You need to remember the target it is going after and that is not the same market that the iPod Nano is in. The entire target market they are going after is less than the how many nanos have been sold.

But you already seem to think it is going head to head with the nano.
Also the fact that you think it is a rip off of the nano is pretty fun as well. Sorry but I can point to several other devices that it is a much closer rip off of that the Nano. It share music player part with the nano. Other than that I like I said I can point to quite a few other devices.

It's aimed towards a key demographic: the health-and-fitness concious who own Android phones. I'm pretty sure it will sell well in that market, however small that market is. Out of curiosity, how is the iPod nano 6th Gen selling? I can't find any numbers, but I'd be surprised if it was doing well itself, I have yet to see a single person using one.

Actually, selling to or exceeding expectations is what constitutes selling well. If you go out expecting to sell 10 cars and end up selling 10 or maybe even 15, that's selling well. If you go out expecting to sell 50, but only sell 10, that's selling poorly. It's a niche device, it's not meant to sell 100 million units.

You're not the only one (I don't wear a watch but a lot of my friends do). This isn't replacing watches though, its basically a workout accessory as I see it.

This is great I've been looking for something like this for a while now. I know the price is right for the features but I still find it a bit expensive. Nonetheless when this product starts selling they should have made all the accessories available at once.

I like Motorola, just not many of their products. It's a shame to see a once great company floundering like this.

This watch doesn't look too bad though it's large and heavy. And pricey, which isn't necessarily bad so long as it's great at what it does and enough people realize that to make producing them worthwhile..

It doesn't come close to the Nano, but so long as it doesn't try to be a Nano maybe it'll find its niche.

Doesn't seem likely though. Like many of their recent products, it'll probably be sold at massive discounts, little profit and possible major losses.
