The W6800X Duo sounds lit. Looks like the standalone cost will be around £5000.

€6900.00 for the W6900X.... good grief.

The W6800 Duo seems like the best balance here - the W6900x does seem pretty expensive for a single GPU. Curious if the 60 vs 80 CU makes a huge difference, but I still rather have 2x W6800 for the same or less price I think

I'm not so sure. They've used the 6800 for it (rather than the 6800xt), so the actual difference in compute power (compared to the Vega II) is most likely going to be pretty negligible.
Not to mention, you should double-check and make certain your workflow can use multiple GPU's.

Only thing missing are the bootcamp drivers. Just checked AMD, and drivers have not been updated since October 2020. Probably gonna wait to order this until after updated drivers are released since I use Windows just as much as macOS

It'll surely be wayyyy faster than a Vega II and decently faster than a Vega II Duo (at around the same price).

If the metal benchmark for a single W6800 is 143,840 and the Duo roughly doubles it, it'll be a massive 287,680.

If the Vega II Duo is around 196,604 (just a rough doubling from the chart below) then the new Duo 2 would be about 46% faster.

Maybe not worth it if you already own a Vega II Duo, but a great update from something like the W5700X... a lot of people bought that card anticipating these Big Navi cards.

So I’m confused which would be more powerful out of a

Radeon Pro Vega II MPX Module

And say a single 6800x module?

On Barefeats.com which I think is the best resource for it, the Geekbench Metal scores come in at:

VEGA II: 98,302

W6800: 143,840

6900 XT: 175,078

There may be some differences between the AMD W6800 and the Apple MPX module, but probably not by much.

So I would say that these do make the Vega II cards obsolete (in terms of if you wanted to buy now) which is why it looks like they're being phased out.

Obviously if you already have one they're still great and indeed may not be worth upgrading if they get the job done.

I think it’s important that people understand how closely Geekbench numbers relate to their actual workflows.

I was all excited to jump from 200,000 in cumulative Geekbench Metal (With my 2x Radeon VIIs), to a whopping 320,000 cumulative with my shiny new 2x 6800XT.

The real world increase in performance in Davinci Resolve (the primary software I use) is a MASSIVE… 6%.

That’s it. A totally negligible upgrade.

If I were working in 3D it would be a different story, as the new cards are significantly better at that. But for the work I do? It’s turned out to be a fairly pointless update.

Is there anybody using TwinMotion with Radeon 6800, 6900 series cards? Either RX or W series?
I've trying to find reasonably priced 6xxx cards, to no avail. I'd try it in my 6,1 Razor CoreX eGPU just to find out if there is a difference.

The viewport might be a different story against the final render output speed, I suspect.

I don't think I'm gonna pay 1.5x to 2x MSRP for those just to test it and disappoint. Or am I?
