iPod New Nano and headphones with controller

I know the new Nano uses Voice Over which can be done with the headphones with a controller, but will it also utilize the other functions, like increase and decrease volume, two clicks to jump forward, 3 clicks to jump back like on the shuffle?

Seems rather silly if it would only use the headphone controller for voice over.
