Is there any reason why the iPhone did not get the features that the new Nano received?

1. Pedometer . . . According to Apple.com, the Nano simply uses the accelerameter for this. As the iPhone also has an accelerameter, it should just be software based.

2. Video effects . . . The iPhone uses Open GL 2.0 right? Why wouldn't it be powerful enough to handle the video effects that the nano received?

3. FM radio . . . From what I understand, the wireless chip in the iPhone includes an FM radio that Apple simply has not enabled. Now that the Nano has the radio, why not unlock it for iPhone users too.

I would have expected iPhone 3.1 to include all of this. As it is, I am fairly disappointed.

And before any asks "why do you need a radio on the iPhone," streaming radio takes too much battery power and can not receive the audio my gym transmits via FM for the TVs.

1) Why do you need a pedometer if you already have Nike+?
2) Video effects will probably come when the iPod touch gets a camera.
3) Dunno about that one, but inconsequential to me.

I do not have Nike+. Also, According to Apple.com, the pedometer can apparently run all day in the background. I did not think Nike+ could do that, especially since I could not wear the Nike+ device in my work shoes (even if I had it).

Probably true, but disappointing. Why do iPhone users need to wait for the iPod Touch to catch up? We have cameras now.

I know a lot of people do not care about FM on the iPhone, but for people whose gyms use the FM transmitters for TV audio, it would be nice.

Get a iPod Nano then.

I bought an iPhone to replace my phone/iPod multi-device combo. I don't really want to go back to carrying two. Thanks, though.
