Just got my new MBP, doing the Migration Assistant now. Samsun 9C68 display isn't grainy, no yellow tint, running at 48°C idle on CPU. Very VERY slight hiss on headphones, but not enough to cause problems, and it disappears after a few seconds.

Cool, congrats. Could you tell me the build week of your machine? It's on the serial number, the two digits after the first #7.

Oh, nothing really. I've had two 25 week MBPs with screen problems, so I just want to get an idea on how the later weeks have been turning out, since I plan on exchanging tomorrow.

Congrats on your computer! :)
 
I'm picking mine (my first Mac too) up in an hour. I'm so nervous, I really hope its screen is ok. And everything else too of course. My dad is convinced Macs are crappy quality, and I really don't want to prove him right.
 
I think I have a chance of convincing him for a few reasons:

1. I'm about to go off to college, which will leave him having to maintain our computers.

2. My moms desktop has 256mb of (old, non DDR) RAM, and her laptop has 128... both need replacing.

3. My mom is a doctor, so a lot of her friends have macs.

So it shouldn't be hard to convince my mom that she would like to have a mac, and if its easy to set up and maintain, and compatible with the software she needs (mostly just email, browsing, and a VPN client she has no idea how to use) then my dad won't have much excuse left. I think a Macbook (keeping in mind this will be 6+ months away probably) with a monitor for use at home would suit her needs quite well.

But now I'm getting off topic... Off work in 10 minutes, go home, get the Fed Ex paper (the delivery failed this morning because my sister was sleeping), and go pick up my MBP :)

Don't sweat it, there is a near certainty that your MBP will be perfect... I worried too, but Macs aren't bad, they really don't malfunction. You must see, when people have a problem, they will talk about it.
 
Build week 26 here, too. No problems...except for the yellow screen, idle temp at 76C, keys out of alignment, hiss in the audio, dvd player that continues to run without a dvd in it, and... :rolleyes: ;)

I wouldn't get too concerned with bad screens and every other issue you may find on this forum. Remember this is where people come to discuss their problems with their computer. Of the 1000's of MBP Apple has sold thus far, the problems are minimal.

Enjoy the new computer. I know I am.
 
I do have a very very slight audio hiss, but as mentioned it disappears (and is easily drowned out when it is there). As long as I can listen to my marching band and DCI music I'm happy :eek:

i've been looking for instructions on how to figure that out...can someone tell me how to get the type of lcd screen # on a mbp ?

also, whats the program yall use to find the temp?
 
Its here! And as far as I can tell its fine. I have yet to do much with the audio, but I have my nice headphones on and don't hear anything at all. The display I think is fine. At first I thought maybe it had the yellow, but now I don't think so. If so I can't really see it (I'll get some others to look at it and see what they think).

My biggest problem so far was when I couldn't make it see my network. Took me half an hour to figure out that I had set the router to only give out 8 addresses, and this was the 9th :rolleyes: .

Anyway, I'm off to mess about with this thing. Gosh, this is awesome. The keyboard is nice too. Takes about 2 minutes to get used to it, and I'm already doing the 2 finger scrolling.

That is EXACTLY my current scenario. First mac, Ill be goin off to college. my dad dislikes em, he'll be stuck with the home desktop, which is 5 yrs old, and my mom's laptop, who is also a doctor (dentist, whatever).

Ill try to get them into an iMac once the new ones are announced.
