I think the default notification sound changed with 14.2. I really do not like it, I could change it back for example in Messages, but unfortunately I could not find a systemwise option to change the default sound back to the previous one.

Is there an option for this?
How do you like the new sound?

I'm not aware of a new default notification sound for anything in 14.2. However, in Messages > Settings, you can find the setting to change the sound.

Check for example telegram or official facebook messenger app.
Telegram provides an option to change the sound, but fb messenger do not. telegram default is the same sound as facebook messenger. I could switch back to "note" in telegram, but many apps do not have an option to change the default sound.

That sounds like an app-specific problem then. Since Telegram and Facebook Messenger are both third-party apps, they might have different notification sounds.

I am not sure about that, I mean, I think it is strange, that the sound effect changed at the same time for 2 different, completely unrelated apps.

Apple seems to have changed the default notification sound from "Tri-Tone" to "Rebound" (at least that is the name of the tone on iOS 17.2). There does not seem to be a setting to change it (unlike iOS 17.2 which does). App developers have to decide whether they stick with the default tone or use their own.

WAIT... @Freedy23 , they DID change the notification sound, and I just didn't notice it until now! I'll again admit defeat here...

For me, I only notice the DEFAULT notification sound has changed—for things that don't have a specific notification sound (e.g. Messages, Mail, etc.) Weather, Stats, etc. have the new default one.

Hi all. I might have a related thread here. For the same issue. Can you confirm that the below recorded audio is the unnamed notification sound you're suddenly hearing as the default sound for some but not all apps in 14.2?

As somebody said, it seems to be a match for "rebound" from iOS 17 per this video:

how is there no option to change this in the "most advanced operating system" yet?

I can't tell my goddamn Mac and phone apart.
