New official Apple iDisk app "coming soon"

Why did Apple wait this long? That kind of came too late as there are already numerous apps that can access the iDisk and have other features on top of that.

Unless it has other unknown features that those apps lack when it comes to accessing the iDisk?
 
This just occurred to me, perhaps it's why they're giving Readdledocs and DocsToGo a hard time? Multiple rejections for "inappropriate icons" as an iDisk viewer.

It has the ability to share files that are on your iDisk just like in the online iDisk interface...share a file, add a password, set link expiration date.
There aren't any other apps in the app store that can do that.
 
Yes, I realized that. I just think it's funny that they waited this long (given that we've been able to share files on MM for a while now), unless there are other features unique to 3.0.
 
What about just a bloody Finder app? I just want to store stuff like a resume and a doc or two on my phone. Instead of neatly syncing these items like Notes does, I have to guess which one of these apps like AirShare is the least pain in the arse. Every one I have tried to use goes through loops like crazy when all I want is the simple darnded file transfer I had on an iPod three years ago.
 
I hate "coming soon". Worms is "coming soon". TomTom is "coming soon". iDisk is "coming soon".

Just email them to yourself, and make a folder in your email account called "Documents." Or something of the sort.
That way, you don't have to deal with any convoluted app solutions.

FWIW, Air Sharing Pro is freakin' fantastic. I love it, don't know how I did without it. PDF's, docs, Excel, PPT, etc. The viewer is great too, and you can print to OS X or Linux shared printers. It's not cheap (for an iPhone app) but I definitely feel it's worth it.

Documents to Go might suit your needs. It's only just been released, so it's got its limitations, but I'm really impressed so far. There two versions, the standard one (£2.99), and the Exchange edition (£5.99). Only get the Exchange version if you use MS Exchange for you email and would like the ability to access documents in your Exchange inbox.

Both versions have desktop sync app counterpart for the Mac or Windows, which allows you to choose a folder to sync. Once you've done this, all you need is the app open on both your iPhone and computer, then just hit sync in either to syncronise all your files in the folder you selelcted at the start. It works really well.

I'd prefer MobileMe iDisk access as well, but I really like this solution.

Jailbreak. Then you can use the "MobileFinder" app. :)
 
Perhaps apple not wanting the iPhone regarded as a computer has something to do with not having a finder.

Is iDisk slow for anyone else? It's so freaking slow for me.

I usually end up buying the MM (used to be .mac) codes online for about 30$, so for that amount it is money well spent and this app will make it MUCH more useful.
