Found a deal on our local Craigslist I couldn't pass up, Bought a 2008 Mac Pro 3,1 with 2x2.8 quad processors, 16gb memory, 2x500gb drives and Radeon 5870 graphics card with a 23" ACD and full sized keyboard all for the grand price of $550.

Currently installing Mavericks + server and will be installing some larger hard drives.

It's been some time since I looked at a Mac Pro and the case is larger than I remember. Heavier than I expected.

Wow, not a bad price. 3,1 is currently my daily driver. In my experience, a PCIe SSD (Apricorn Velocity Solo x1 is what I use) was the most noticeable upgrade on my machine.

If I was using it like you, that would be the first upgrade. I'm planning on using it as a server so it won't benefit that much from the SSD upgrade.

Congrats. Those sweet deals are why Craigslist is so tempting--glad you had a positive experience.
