New partition error?

Hey I'm trying to make a new partition within Leopard.

I have an Imac with a 250gig drive in one partition now and I want add another. There is over 50gigs free on the HD but when I try and create a new partition using disk utility I get an error saying there is no free space on device?

Does anyone know what that means and what I can do about it?

I also tried with boot camp and it say that some files cannot be moved? And won't allow me to make new partitions.
