New Pencil charging options

I don't think the new Pencil has any charging option other than the magnetic induction on the side of the iPad. I don't believe this is standard Qi charging, so you can't just lay it down on a charging mat as far as I'm aware.
Kind of funny--I sold my 10.5" Pro weeks ago, and just noticed this morning that my TechMatte desk charger for my old Pencil definitely had no reason to be plugged in and sitting on my desk anymore. It's now in my tech graveyard in my desk drawer.
